Planting a tree is an important process that should not be taken lightly. There are many advantages and disadvantages to planting your seed just right, so pay attention!
Here’s how you can do it properly:
1. CHOOSE THE RIGHT SPOT
The spot where you plant your tree will determine how beautiful and fruitful it is. Trees that enjoy the sun are perfect for hot climates, while shade-loving types thrive in shady areas with little light.
The type of soil in your garden can have a big impact on which tree you choose. If it’s full of clay, sandy or dry ground then consider an elm tree (for example), because they thrive when planted deep and wide compared to other trees that need more moisture around their roots.
So, make a good research and get to know your soil before deciding which tree to plant in your garden.
2. DIG THE PERFECT HOLE
Digging a hole is easy! Just make sure that you don’t go any deeper than the depth of your tree’s root ball and pack it full with soil.
Dig the hole wide enough to leave several inches of space all around the tree for easy root growth.
3. PACK DOWN THE SOIL
Filling in the hole will make your tree happy. Take time to tamp down any dirt around it and pack as much of that surrounding area with soil, giving your newly planted roots plenty of room for growth!
4. KEEP IT HYDRATED
Your tree needs a drink, so be sure to give it some water every few days. If you’re not watering often enough or if the weather is too dry, your little buddy will go through all kinds of stress in its first months in ground!
Make sure to give your tree a good watering after planting, and if you notice it needs more nutrients in order grow quickly then feed accordingly.
You should also fertilize once every year or so with an organic fertilizer labeled for trees!
