With winter just weeks away, it’s time to get your garden ready for spring.
In this article we’ll discuss how and what you can do in order make the most out of those cold days!
1. Fix Dry Stacked Stone Walls
A loose and disheveled wall is a perfect danger zone for young kids. You need to fix this problem if you want your child’s playtime to be safe.
A few pushes should do it, but make sure that all crevices are filled so there won’t be any large gaps that might get distorted again.
2. Fill in Holes
Pests like to take up residence in your backyard during winter. Carefully survey the area around you and see if there are any holes that need fixing, especially ones near windowsill where food might accumulate over time.
3. Pruning
At the end of winter, it’s time to inspect your trees and prune away any excess parts that may cause future damage.
4. Clean Gutters
The rain has caused a clogged up in your gutters. Make sure that it is free by going onto the roof and checking!
5. Take Care of Birdhouses
It’s time to spruce up your birdhouse! If you have one, take some time and fix it. Clean off any residue from last year before painting them so that they are bright and clean again.
6. Remove Leaves from Water Features
It’s finally warm enough to get out your leaf blowers and start cleaning up your yard. Make sure you’re looking for any pesky vines that may be hiding under the surface of water features too!
7. Clean Tools
You need to make sure your tools are in tip-top shape for the new season, so don’t start it with dirty rusty blades! Cleaning them will be easier than ever.
8. Repaint the Fence
When it’s finally starting to feel warm outside, take a look at your fence. If any of the panels are faded or damaged in some way then you can get creative and repaint it!
9. Clean off Paths
Winter can be really harsh and almost destroy your beautiful paths. Rake gravel back where it belongs, reset stepping-stones in their right place to scrub off any caked on mud or dirt!
10. Cut Back Perennials
Why not give your plants a little pampering before the spring?
