Here’s a very simple recipe to make your own calendula salve:
Ingredients:
- 1 cup calendula infused oil
- 1 ounce (28 grams) of beeswax
- 1 ounce (28 grams) of shea butter (optional)
Directions:
- Warm the calendula infused oil in a double boiler on your stove. You can make this happen by simply putting an inch or so of simmering water over a small bowl placed atop another pan.
- When adding the beeswax, stir it occasionally until all of it is absorbed into the oil. Use a wooden skewer or bamboo chopstick for this process – any utensil that won’t scratch your pot!
- Then remove the oil/beeswax mixture from heat and add in shea butter, and stir quickly until it melts.
- Pour this salve into tins or jars and wait until it cools down completely, before you use it on your skin.
