If you don’t have a green thumb, a lot of time, or are just plain forgetful, these 10 indoor plants you can’t kill are right up your alley! Not all of us are able to care for plants the way we should, but these resilient plants can withstand almost any kind of negligence including overwatering, not enough watering, lack of sunshine, and more!
Let’s take a look at these 10 indoor plants you can’t kill so that you can have a little green in your life!
1. AIR PLANT
Air plants are beautiful little plants that actually don’t need any soil – they’ll simply attach themselves to any trees, rocks, or ornaments. As the name suggests, they need air, so give them space and mist them with water once or twice a week. Every few weeks, dip them in water for 20-30 minutes to revive them.
2. BOSTON FERN
The beautiful and delicate looking Boston Fern is one of the most famous low maintenance houseplants listed today. Though, it looks delicate, the plant actually is quite tough and can survive for a long time provided you water it regularly and show it moderate sunlight. Boston Fern also flourishes well in humid conditions.
3. MOTHER IN LAW’S TONGUE
With its massive strappy leaves and broad appearance, this plant has become a perennial favorite of homes around the world. Not only is it overtly attractive and somewhat unique; the plant is super tough and can bounce back from weeks of neglect, if needed. Of course, we would never encourage neglect, but if you happen to be the forgetful type, this could be the houseplant for you. Even cooler, the snake plant is known for its air purification properties, helping keep the atmosphere in your home clean.
4. PEACE LILY
Help to remove ammonia, benzene and formaldehyde. Place it near window sill where it gets indirect sunlight throughout the day at least for 6-8 hours. It loves warm weather and produces white beautiful flowers in winter season that smells divine.
5. FIDDLE LEAF FIG
Although these plants need a little more maintenance than others, they’ll be well worth your time as they can make any corner of your home look showstopping! Give them a little water once a week, some indirect sunlight, and be sure to dust off the leaves once in a while.
6. CALATHEA
Also called Peacock plant, Zebra plant, or Rattlesnake plant, the calathea prefers moist and humid air (perfect for those in tropical or subtropical regions), and indirect sunlight.
7. ALOE VERA
Is an easy-to-grow, sun-loving succulent. It helps clear formaldehyde and benzene from the air, which can be a byproduct of chemical-based household cleaners, paints, etc.
Aloe is a smart choice for your sunny kitchen window sill or bay window. Beyond its air-clearing abilities, the gel inside an aloe plant can heal cuts and burns.
8. PHILODENDRON
Aside from an occasional need for liquid fertilizer, the philodendron care is easy to care for, so long as you watch for the right signals. This is a houseplant that will tell you exactly what it needs. It will thrive indoors year round, but can enjoy an occasional stay outdoors in a shaded spot, so long as the weather is warm enough. Unlike many plants, it doesn’t experience much stress when transitioning from indoors to out and back.
9. JADE PLANT
Also known as money plants, Jade plants are actually succulents and don’t require much care at all! Keep away from direct sunlight and water sparingly.
10. ZZ PLANT
One of THE most resilient plants in the world, the ZZ plant can tolerate low light, drought, dry air, bugs, and pretty much anything else you can throw at it! It only needs to be watered once a month, and even if you DO forget to do that, it will still bounce back!
