Tea bags have more than one purpose, from beauty to cleaning and home remedies. You might have heard about a use for them as an eye affliction remedy, or toothache treatment.
Did you know they are also good around plants too?
You can use this world’s most popular drink in your garden to keep the bugs away and improve your garden! Here’s how:
1. Compost
Introducing the perfect companion for your compost pile –tea bags. The tea bag will speed up its decomposition process and ensure that it biodegrades in time!
2. Fertilizer
Roses love tea fertilizer, as well as houseplants and garden plants like ferns. So, brew up some iced or hot tea leaves into the soil to keep them happy!
3. Outdoor Remedies
It’s amazing how many uses there are for tea! You can make it into a soothing bath, use the bags as bandages on your skin, or simply drink some warm tea during winter time.
4. Garden Pests
Rodents and cats don’t like the smell of your garden, but you can keep them away with some leaves from a cup of tea. Caffeine contained in this beverage will also help prevent pests that love ruining everything!
5. Fungus Fighter
There are many ways you can keep your plants healthy and safe, but one of the best methods is by using diluted brewed tea.
I recommend steeping chamomile for 16-24 hours before adding it to a spray bottle, and spray your plants in order to provide an extra boost against fungus that might be lurking on their leaves!
6. Lawn Fixer
Help the earth by soaking grass seed in brewed tea before sprinkling it around your yard, or simply plant used teabags with fresh seeds for new growth.
7. Sprout Seeds
You can also germinate seeds inside of teabags to get your plant started. Dampen the bags, slice them open and place 1 seed per bag. Place them in sunlight until they start sprouting out!
8. Water & Dirt Retainer
Tea bags are the perfect way to keep soil in your pot while also moistening seeds. If you plant with a tea bag, roots will stay healthy after planting – just make sure there’s enough space for it all!
9. Weed Killer
Get rid of weeds by brewing a pot of black tea and applying it directly onto the affected area. Or, make your own DIY weed killer spray.
