The smell of jasmine is as good as valium at calming the nerves with none of the side effects, researchers find.

Jasmine scent has an incredible effect on your body. When it comes to soothing your body and mind, researchers say it’s as effective as some drugs.

This scent has the power to improve your mood. It helps you deal sleep disorders and improves the quality of your sleep as reported by a recent study conducted by a group of German experts.

They have found filling the cages of mice with the fragrance  dramatically calms the animals, causing them “to cease all activity and sit quietly in a corner.”

Brain scans revealed inhaling the scent of jasmine boosts the effects of a chemical called GABA on nerve cells, relieving anxiety and promoting rest.

The results of the study were published in the Journal of Biological Chemistry.

The researchers tested hundreds of fragrances to determine their effect on GABA receptors in humans and mice and found jasmine increased the GABA effect by more than five times.

It’s effect was as strong as sedatives, sleeping pills and relaxants which can cause depression, dizziness, hypotension, muscle weakness and impaired coordination. Do you know that jasmine is as effective as valium?
